Polaroid Corporation, originally known as Polaroid Land Camera, was founded by Edwin H. Land in 1937. The corporation is famous for its instant film cameras. The distinctive feature of Polaroid cameras is the instant development of photographs. In 1947, Polaroid introduced the first instant camera, the Polaroid Model 95. This instant camera produced sepia-toned photographs in about 1 minute. The success of the Model 95 led to the development of more advanced instant cameras over the years. Notably, the Polaroid SX-70, introduced in 1972, was the first instant SLR camera and a significant milestone in instant photography.

Despite the widespread popularity of Polaroid cameras in the late 20th century, the company faced financial challenges in the 2000s. In 2001, Polaroid filed for bankruptcy due to competition from digital photography and mismanagement. However, the Polaroid brand continued to thrive through licensing agreements, allowing other companies to produce Polaroid-branded products.

Today, the Polaroid brand remains synonymous with instant photography and nostalgia.
